Renee Stokman’s unconventional career path has given her the skills and insight needed to help people thrive in their own careers. Renee leads our robust team of Talent Leaders, Advocates, Partners and Ops, and supports employee development, succession planning and talent management. Through the talent team, Renee helps DPR continually improve its infrastructure and processes for developing and building great people who are then able to grow great careers. Renee is also the Leadership Team sponsor of our Mental Wellbeing ERG and works with the Mental Health group within DPR.
Renee started at DPR as a project engineer in 1999. After serving in the field and supporting the growth of the Southern California business, she joined the people team and ultimately left DPR to study clinical psychology and work as a clinical therapist. After several years away, Renee returned to DPR to work as an internal recruiter and help build out the initial recruiting team and tools. She transitioned from there into a role as the Southwest talent advocate and leader, then to her current role. Drawing on field experience, skills developed on the people team, and expertise garnered as a licensed mental health therapist helps Renee hire, inspire, develop and grow the next generation of extraordinary builders.
Along with working to build awareness and develop a strategy to help change the construction industry through her mental health work at DPR, Renee has a Big Hairy Audacious Goal: To help people connect to their purpose. Renee wants everyone to feel they are where they belong, just as the company supported her in finding a role that resonated for her. Drawing on memories of leaders who cared enough to have difficult conversations inspires Renee to do the same. She is “passionate and committed to improving the career journey and employee experience for every employee at DPR,” by building leadership practices that include giving feedback–both good and bad–into the company DNA.
Away from work, Renee volunteers as a therapist for organizations such as the Red Cross. She is a Girl Scout Leader who loves to hike, camp and read, and she enjoys all genres of music.
