Engineering News-Record (ENR) recognized seven DPR projects in their Regional Best Project Awards, some receiving multiple awards. Recipients include:

• Infomart Data Center Fit-Out & Expansion project, Hillsboro, OR, for Northwest Best Manufacturing Project
• Chinese Hospital New Patient Tower, San Francisco for California Award of Merit
• DPR Pasadena Office, Pasadena, CA, for California Award of Merit
• The Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building, Phoenix, AZ, for Southwest Best Higher Education/Research Project
• Biogen Research Triangle Park, Research Triangle Park, NC for Southeast Best Manufacturing Project and a Southeast safety award
• Clemson’s Allen N. Reeves Football Complex, Clemson, SC, for Southeast Award of Merit and safety award
• DPR Net-Zero Energy Office, Reston, VA, for Mid-Atlantic Best Small Project

Biogen Research Triangle Park and The Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building were also recognized as national Best of the Best projects by ENR.

Orlando, Florida,
The UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay project team accepted the prestigious Vista Award for New Construction at the 2017 ASHE International Summit & Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design & Construction (PDC Summit). The Vista award criteria is not based on design, but focuses on the significance of collaboration in creating optimal health care environments.

Atlanta, Georgia
Renovations are underway at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium, the tenth largest college football stadium in the country. The DPR team embraces the challenges of renovating the stands, locker room, recruit club, plaza and concourse area of UGA’s beloved Bulldogs, while over 94,000 curious fans flooded the stadium for this season’s six home games. With the project scheduled for completion in summer 2018, the DPR team demobilized the entire jobsite each game day.

Baltimore, Maryland
DPR’s Baltimore team won four Excellence in Construction awards by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Baltimore Chapter. The Father Martin’s Ashley Intake Facility and the MedStar Bel Air Ambulatory Care Center projects both won the highest award of Excellence in the New Construction category. Two other Baltimore projects won Merit awards—the Mt. Airy Health and Wellness Pavilion project and the COPT Columbia Gateway Tenant Improvement project.

Charlotte, North Carolina
The Charlotte Business Journal named DPR’s Josh Vallimont to its 40 Under 40 list. Vallimont was recognized for his involvement as an ACE mentor, introducing high school students to career paths in construction.

Washington, DC
DPR erected its first tower crane in downtown Washington, D.C. this April. The project, at the busy intersection of 18th and I Streets NW, restores a 1910 historic landmark façade and converts it to Class-A office space.

Austin, Texas
More than 50 DPR volunteers in Austin constructed a 220-sq.-ft. tiny house with a 300-sq.-ft. rooftop deck for the Community First! Village. The project is part of a 27-acre development that will ultimately offer around 275 disabled, chronically homeless people in central Texas a long-term living community.

National
In its sixth appearance, DPR was recognized on Training magazine’s Training Top 125 list, ranking No. 26 overall in 2017. The Training Top 125 grades companies that excel at employee learning and development. In the previous year, the magazine named DPR’s Melissa King an Emerging Training Leader.

Orlando, Florida
DPR served up a world-class facility for the United States Tennis Association, which celebrated the grand opening of its new national campus. Orange County and City of Orlando officials joined tennis legends Chris Evert, James Blake and Jim Courier for the ceremonial “first serve” marking the project’s debut.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida
DPR moved into its new South Florida home at 1301 E. Broward Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale. The 8,400-sq.-ft. space accommodates the growth of the region with double the workspace as the previous office. Its new location in the heart of downtown is walkable to bustling Las Olas Boulevard and only three miles from the famed Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

San Francisco, California
San Francisco Business Times ranked DPR #2 on its 2017 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area list in the large company category. DPR was highlighted for its focus on creating opportunities for individual development and career growth.

Greenville, South Carolina
In September, DPR’s Greenville team opened their new space at 504 Rhett Street, Suite 205. DPR has completed more than 45 projects in the Upstate, including multiple projects for Clemson University. The new location will be home to more than 25 employees who support DPR projects across the Western Carolinas.

Houston, Texas
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, DPR proudly supported the Houston Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Clubs with contributions of $25,000 to the Houston Food Bank and $25,000 + 250 boxed lunches to the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. DPR also matched donations employees made to these two organizations. The generosity, resilience and heart of the city of Houston and organizations like these inspire us every day.

Raleigh, North Carolina
Duke University selected DPR to renovate the legendary Cameron Indoor Stadium and Legacy Building, home to Duke Basketball. The project will modernize the existing structure and expand both the men’s and women’s program facilities.

San Francisco, California
DPR’s net-zero San Francisco office won CIBSE’s International Project of the Year. San Francisco’s first certified net-zero energy commercial building, the office is a true living lab of sustainable business practices.

Richmond, Virginia
DPR celebrated the topping out of the Riverside Walter Reed Hospital expansion and renovation project. Once complete, the massive development will consist of a new two-story, 54,000-sq.-ft. surgical center, 36 new patient rooms, a new hospital entrance and lobby. The existing emergency department will expand from 6,000 to 16,000 sq. ft. Construction began in March 2017 and will continue in phases until the scheduled completion in 2019.

Sacramento, California
DPR pledged $25,000 to close the funding gap needed to complete the two final homes of a Habitat for Humanity project. As with other philanthropic projects sponsored by DPR, the region will contribute both financially and through in-kind volunteer labor. Construction is underway and a recent build day was featured on Good Day Sacramento.

Cheongna International City, South Korea
DPR’s Hana Financial Group Data Center team participated in a traditional Korean gosa ceremony, marking new beginnings, hope and good luck at the start of construction. The project will be the first building in South Korea to be built through preconstruction and a GMP contract. The seven-story, 325,000-sq.-ft. data center and 18-story, 342,000-sq.-ft. administration building will rival both domestic and international facilities, marking a significant milestone for DPR’s Korea practice.

San Diego, California
DPR’s San Diego team won an American Concrete Institute award for self-performed concrete work on a large corporate campus. ASA San Diego also presented DPR with the “Large GC of the Year” award, based on fair business practices, safety and project management.

Phoenix, Arizona
DPR’s Cassie Robertson, preconstruction leader in Phoenix, lectured about the principles of preconstruction for a graduate engineering class at the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering. SoCal
DPR’s leadership team in Southern California, USC project team and other volunteers from the region spent an afternoon working on beautification projects to benefit local elementary school students. The projects included the installation of new landscaping and planter boxes.

Tampa, Florida
The Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay named DPR’s Tampa office its Partner of the Year. DPR’s ongoing work with the organization includes program funding, renovation assistance and personal volunteering.

National
DPR proudly announced the launch of Integrating Project Delivery, authored by Martin Fischer, Howard Ashcraft, and DPR’s Dean Reed and Atul Khanzode. The new textbook offers the first comprehensive look at the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) system in the construction industry.

Raleigh, North Carolina
DPR was named a Top Corporate Philanthropist in the Triangle Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards. The Raleigh-Durham team also won a Triangle Business Journal Innovation Award for using laser scanning to evaluate trees, canopies and roots. Laser scanning helped the team use impact analyses to protect existing trees near a structure, while keeping the design of the project intact.

National
In 2017, 20+ organizations around the country received nearly $800,000 in grants from the DPR Foundation. DPR employees volunteer thousands of hours annually with these organizations, helping with facility renovations, youth career guidance and board service. Hands-on volunteer service multiplies the impact of the financial gifts, and helps DPR’s partner organizations advance their missions.

Sacramento, California
Solano Community College broke ground on its $37.6 million science and engineering building at its main Fairfield campus. When completed in fall 2018, the 44,000-sq.-ft. structure will house biology, chemistry, geology, geography and physics labs and classrooms, as well as an expanded veterans center.
