SAN DIEGO
DPR took home the third place award in the San Diego Business Journal Best Places to Work 2009 competition, making DPR the best contractor to work for in San Diego.
BAY AREA
DPR’s three Bay Area offices, Redwood City, San Francisco and San Jose, surpassed their combined goal of 100 LEED® Accredited Professionals, making up nearly a third of DPR’s LEED APs nationwide.
PHOENIX
DPR knocks it out of the park during the 2009 ASHE Planning Design and Construction conference with a presentation on the benefits of BIM on the recently completed Banner Health Del E. Webb Hospital expansion project and a hospitality event at Chase Field Ballpark.
ORANGE COUNTY
DPR was voted the Best Workplace in Orange County among medium-sized companies by The Orange County Register.
JUPITER
DPR has been awarded a 100,000-sq.-ft. biomedical research facility at Florida Atlantic University’s MacArthur Campus. Scheduled for completion in Fall 2011, DPR will be building the project with joint venture partner, The Weitz Company.
SAN FRANCISCO
DPR’s Autodesk One Market Office and Customer Briefing Center project achieved Platinum LEED for Commercial Interiors certification. The project is one of the first IPD projects in the country for its size.
SAN JOSE
During independent testing through a Level 5 commissioning process, Fortune Data Centers’ new 43,000-sq.-ft. facility, completed by DPR, achieved a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.37 at full load, an energy efficiency level superior to the industry average data center PUE of 2.0, and better than the EPA’s 2011 target PUE of 1.45 for enterprise-class data centers. The project is also targeting Gold LEED certification.
SAN MATEO
San Mateo County business leaders and SAMCEDA recently honored DPR with a 2009 Business Award of Excellence in recognition of innovation, good management and overall success of business.
CHANDLER
DPR celebrated the grand opening of Covance Laboratories, Inc. Research & Development Center in March.
AUSTIN
The Austin Business Journal awarded DPR the top spot in its Going Green Award, Commercial Construction category. According to the business journal, DPR’s commitment to showing clients how green alternatives can benefit their bottom line was a key differentiator.

DPR’s Glen Allen, VA, location celebrated all things green with a happy hour for customers and partners attended by more than 60 people.
SACRAMENTO
DPR’s Sacramento office is mentoring Cosumnes River College students in energy modeling and constructability review as part of its participation in the USGBC Natural Design competition 2009.
ATLANTA
On March 10, the Georgia Institute of Technology Advanced Brain Imaging Center achieved zero defects. Consisting of 6,792 sq. ft. of renovations of administrative space and construction of new laboratories for the Center, the laboratory includes a space for a MRI machine that requires additional power and cooling.
ST. PETERSBURG
Early tally of Tradeline’s Lean Management Models for Facility Management and Capital Projects conference evaluation shows that 63 percent of conference attendees rated the event as excellent and 34 percent as good. DPR’s Dick Kerzic, George Hurley, Mike Ford and Tom Krajewski presented “How to use BIM to lower the costs of construction, maintenance and operations” and “Last Planner” is the new big thing to master for Lean Capital projects” and scored the #1 and #2 “best of show” based on attendee evaluations.
ESCONDIDO
Massive trusses that began going up in March cumulated in a topping-off ceremony in July at Palomar Medical Center West, one of the largest hospital projects currently under construction in the country.
FALLS CHURCH
More than 200 industry professionals attended DPR’s 5th annual Green Week in Falls Church, which included seven client/design partner outreach meetings and Charrettes—proving that it is indeed “always greener at DPR” (this year’s theme).
PHOENIX
DPR’s Arizona State University Polytechnic Academic Complex project in Mesa, AZ, has been recognized by ENR and the 11 regional publications of McGraw-Hill publishing company as the Best Green Building in the U.S. as part of the group’s first annual Best of the Best Awards.
RENO
Seven schools competed to solve the inaugural Determining Project Risk National Problem, sponsored by DPR, at the 2009 ASC Student Competition. An interactive exercise, teams were challenged to solve a management-based problem, including negotiating contracts and buyout of subcontractors. The winning team was from Brigham Young University, based on their contract negotiations, final cost, schedule duration, reputation and presentation, with University of California, Berkeley and Boise State University second and third respectively.
REDWOOD CITY
DPR’s Innovation Group, which includes 17 people from across the country, gathered in Redwood City on April 14 to propose plans for supporting the innovation process at DPR. The members were asked to define how ideas will be gathered and evaluated, what resources are needed, develop a process map that takes the flow of an idea from inspiration to implementation, and create metrics for tracking the program’s success. The new innovation process at DPR is scheduled to be rolled out by the end of the year.
