Building Bonds With The Future Workforce

DPR Kicks Off ASC 2002 Competition in Reno

Developing the next generation of contractors - and DPR’s future workforce - is an ongoing challenge that DPR has tackled through widespread recruiting activities and volunteer involvement at colleges and universities across the nation.

This February, for the second year in a row DPR had a unique opportunity to directly impact several hundred college students by sponsoring the kick-off event for the Associated Schools of Construction Reno Competition 2002. The “Welcome Night” included a forum discussion led by the keynote speaker, DPR’s own Eric Lamb, highlighting DPR’s wagon wheel philosophy and relevancy to the evolution of a project engineer to a project manager.

The event was a huge success, as reflected by Chico State University competitor Michael Ross, who had this to say about DPR’s presentation: “It was exciting to hear from a company that distributed some of their philosophies and what they expect of graduates. The wagon wheel demonstrated the knowledge that professionals in the construction industry need to know to be successful. It gave us something to strive for in our careers.”
