DPR Establishes Facility Services Inc.
Team Brings DPR Quality Service to Ongoing Facility Repair, Replacement and Maintenance
“Tenacity, energy, knowledge and know-how are four things that come to mind,” said Jorge Costa, senior vice president of Ballpark Operations for the San Francisco Giants, regarding DPR’s Bruce Reidy and Lisa Van Court. “It [Pac Bell Park] was a tough project. They understood challenges early on, met deadlines and managed expectations…laying a foundation for the past two years and helping us maintain a ballpark standard that people now come to expect.”
Reidy and Van Court will continue to build “raving fans,” such as Costa, through the launch of DPR’s new Facility Services Inc. that provides ongoing handyman repair, replacement and maintenance services.
According to Reidy, a facilities team is a natural extension of DPR’s services. “Who better to help operate and maintain facilities than the people who build them,” said Reidy. “Facility Services combines extensive management, operations and maintenance expertise with DPR’s technical building experience, ‘zero accidents’ safety philosophy, and proven delivery capabilities to assist building owners and managers in effectively sustaining their facilities on a cyclic basis.”
Facility Services is currently providing supervisory and “handyman” services, with full-time, on-site operations people, for Sybase Inc. at its new 420,000-sq.-ft. corporate campus in Dublin, CA, built by DPR. One benefit of working with DPR, said Robin Tate, real estate and facilities coordinator for Sybase, is “the team’s direct experience. They know the priorities and have facilities-related training that we’d be hard pressed to find from someone else.”
DPR’s annual contract consists of ongoing maintenance and repair, advising on operations coordination, identifying potential issues, and assisting in the development of preventative maintenance programs.
“They’re the master of all trades and function as our eyes and ears of this new campus,” said Rob Hansen, Senior Director of Real Estate and Facilities for Sybase. “They make check lists and run with them. Always thinking ahead, they’re not afraid to make suggestions that may mean more work for them.”
DPR’s Facility Services is not limited to DPR customers.
“We match the right people with the project and can work with any organization to enhance their facility management, maintenance and operations,” said Reidy, who added that other advantages to outsourcing include reducing management time and cost, providing consistency of process, improving quality and centralizing accounting.
