An A+ for DPR Sacramento
In addition to being named one of the Coolest Places to Work by Comstock’s Business Magazine and winning the Workplace Excellence in Leadership award from the Sacramento Bee, DPR’s Sacramento office recently captured top honors in the Sacramento Business Journal’s first-ever A+ Employers/Employees’ Choice Award from among 300 entries and 30 finalists in the medium-size company category. As part of the competition, DPR employees completed an online survey ranking the Sacramento office in numerous areas, such as compensation, work place environment, benefits, etc. Employees were also asked to complete a narrative section, expressing why they believed DPR to be an A+ employer. According to the Sacramento Business Journal at the luncheon where the award was presented, DPR was recognized for, among other things, its Phantom Stock program, additional time off for years of service, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance and unique culture.
Stanford Expands Out for Patient Care
Building on a history of 42 projects completed over the last 12 years on the Stanford campus, DPR was recently awarded a new $80 million out- patient medical center for Stanford University Hospital and Clinics in Redwood City, CA. The center, scheduled to break ground in December with an anticipated completion in summer 2008, will be Stanford’s first off-site facility to cater to its continually expanding patient base in search of world-class healthcare. The project will involve the redevelopment of 220,000 sq. ft. of office space into a state-of-the-art ambulatory clinic that includes an outpatient surgery center, imaging department, office spaces and facility support systems, as well as structural upgrades, new MEP systems and exterior site work.
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Thousands of children received gifts over the holidays thanks to DPR offices across the country that collected toys and money to purchase toys. In fact, several offices and jobsites went above and beyond the call. DPR’s San Diego office collected just over $8,000 in cash from generous subcontractors, staff and friends, resulting in more than 10 truckloads of toys that were delivered to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots in time for the holidays. In Sacramento, DPR participated in the Contractors Caring for Kids toy drive and collected more than 200 toys for local kids in addition to donating to the charity at the platinum level. At the Sacramento collection event, kids turned out to participate in a DPR sponsored LEGO® design-build competition. And, on the CCP2 project jobsite for Genentech in Vacaville, CA, more than 900 construction workers from DPR and subcontractors working on the manufacturing facility expansion project gave more than 18 barrels of toys, including 18 bikes, four scooters and six tricycles, as well as $2,000 in cash to the Toys for Tots drive. According to Marge Bell of DPR, “The toys and donations came from all the men and women working on the project. People would stop me on the jobsite and give me money; it didn’t matter where I was or which company they worked for, they just handed me their donations or brought toys into the trailer for the kids.”
