DPR Construction, Inc., a forward-thinking commercial building contractor/construction manager, is going back to school - giving a six-day seminar on construction techniques to a group of students at Gateway High School in San Francisco. As part of DPR's goal to boost its volunteer efforts in the communities that it serves, the San Francisco office "adopted" Gateway last year, taking on small construction projects at the growing school and tutoring students in the evenings. The construction course represents DPR's ongoing commitment to the school and will take students from project planning, design and cost estimating through finished construction of a stage for school performances and presentations. It will also include a visit to the site of the new Asian Art Museum DPR is currently building as part of a joint venture with general contractor LCI.

DPR, which was ranked by ENR magazine as the 15th largest contractor in the country, has made it its mission to become one of the most admired companies by the year 2030. Each DPR office has established a five-year "Base Camp," or set of tangible goals to be accomplished in five years that will move the company toward its 2030 mission. The San Francisco office's Base Camp includes adopting a local school and helping employees to increase their number of community service hours.
