FORTUNE Ranks DPR Construction #13 on “Best Companies to Work For” in America List
DPR Construction, one of the nation’s leading technical builders focused on highly complex and sustainable projects, jumps nine slots to rank #13 on FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. Last year was DPR’s first time in the top 50, ranking #22, and this year represents DPR’s third consecutive year moving up the list. (DPR ranked #57 in 2010.) Of the 100 companies listed, DPR ranks third among those headquartered in California.
“DPR is home to some of the smartest, most talented and fun people in the industry,” said Doug Woods, co-founder and president of DPR Construction. “By building and nurturing a culture of trust that encourages empowerment and innovation, we continue to provide people with the freedom, flexibility and opportunity to do great things for our employees and customers.”
According to FORTUNE, the annual survey, conducted with the Great Place to Work© Institute, is the most extensive employee survey in corporate America, polling employees from companies nationwide about their company culture, credibility of management, individual respect, fairness, job satisfaction and camaraderie. Those survey results accounted for two-thirds of DPR’s score. The other third of the scoring was based on responses to the Institute’s Culture Audit, which included detailed questions regarding pay and benefit programs, as well as a series of open-ended questions about hiring, communication, training and diversity.
DPR maintains a strong company purpose (DPR Exists to Build Great Things) and core values (Integrity, Enjoyment, Uniqueness, Ever Forward). Over the last year, DPR also launched a new DPR Innovation Group to accelerate the adoption of innovative ideas on a national level and further open lines of communication to ensure that the best ideas in the company come forward. In addition, DPR has developed a customized wellness program for all employees that includes biometric screenings and a fitness reimbursement, and offers a Phantom Stock program that allows employees to share in the financial performance of the privately held, employee-owned organization.
Founded in 1990 by Doug Woods, Peter Nosler and Ron Davidowski (the D, P and R), DPR has grown to a multi-billion-dollar, national general contractor and construction manager that has built long-standing relationships with some of the world’s most admired companies.
