DPR Construction’s Matt Hoglund Takes the Reigns of National Builder’s Texas Operations
DPR Construction, one of the nation’s top commercial contractors focused on highly complex and sustainable projects, recently announced that Matt Hoglund is taking over as Regional Manager of its Texas operations as industry veteran Gary Nauert retires this year from his more than 42-year construction career.
“One of our goals is to execute truly great—and seamless—leadership transitions to ensure that we continue to build great things for our valued customers and employees,” said Doug Woods, Co-Founder of DPR Construction. “We appreciate all that Gary has accomplished--developing our business in Texas and creating a solid foundation from which to grow. We’re looking forward to having Matt take charge and leverage his expertise and passion for building to expand our services throughout the state.”
With offices in Austin, Dallas and Houston, DPR ranked #1 on the Austin Business Journal’s 2014 list of top construction companies based on 2013 revenue of $233.17 million. Hoglund came to DPR through the acquisition of Atlanta-based Hardin Construction Co. last year, which brought together two great construction companies and helped build DPR’s Texas region into a 300-person operation with more than 65 projects currently under construction.
Some of DPR’s current notable projects include Colorado Tower in Austin for Cousins Properties, Inc.; the JW Marriott hotel in Austin for White Lodging Services, Inc.; North Austin Medical Center additions and renovations in Austin for HCA and St. David’s Healthcare Systems; Nephrology Clinic finish out in Dallas for Children’s Medical Center of Dallas; a replacement office building in Austin for The University of Texas, and system upgrade and kitchen renovation in Houston for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“With the great team we have in place, there’s nothing we can’t do,” said Hoglund. “We’re very fortunate to be working with some world-class customers and have some significant projects in place that are helping to shape the skyline of downtown Austin. We’re also committed to bolstering our operations in Dallas and Houston and have secured some exciting opportunities with a few existing national customers and new clients.”
Since opening its Texas office in 1994, DPR has completed more than 800 projects for such customers as Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Advanced Micro Devices, CyrusOne, Scott & White, University of Houston, Hyatt Development Corporation and Simon Premium Outlets. This includes several projects under the leadership of Hoglund as project executive, including one of the largest private developments in Texas, Eilan Mixed-Use Development in San Antonio, and Cougar Village for the University of Houston. Hoglund helped open Hardin’s Texas office in 2008 and turned it into a $75 million operation in two years.
