DPR was hired by a confidential technology client to build-out their new, two-floor, 40,000-sq.-ft. office and training center in Atlanta. The build-out relocates their Atlanta office from the outer perimeter of Atlanta to the heart of town in a Buckhead high-rise. One floor of this build-out is a fully dedicated training center with multiple training rooms that offer an in-person training experience for their customers, with an emphasis on heavy A/V integration.

Details
This project also features the addition of an interconnecting staircase between the two floors, as well as a conference area with operable partitions to allow the Owner the flexibility of different sized conference rooms. The combination of hard and soft features, and a variety of high-end finishes, support an enjoyable office environment that promotes community and innovation.
The project received the 2019 Project Achievement Award from the Construction Management Association of America.
Unique
Characteristics
This Atlanta Office Build-out included several unique elements:
- Carbon fiber reinforcement – This project required carbon fiber reinforcement on both the top and bottom of the slab in the areas around where an opening needed to be cut for the new interconnecting staircase.
- Interconnecting Stairs – Required the involvement of several different trades/materials including steel, concrete, terrazzo (treads), paint, millwork (custom bleachers beneath the stairs), and electrical (lighted handrail). The support steel had to be lifted by a crane through a window on the 9th floor in order to limit the number of splices required in erecting the stairs. Additionally, the soffit that surrounds the stair opening on the ceiling of the lower stair level extends up and becomes a wall that includes a glass storefront, showcasing one of the premium conference rooms of the office.
- Curved soffits – This project features curved rather than straight soffits throughout, which required a great amount of skill and attention to detail by the drywall carpenters.
