Databank ATL1 High Performance Computing Center @ Tech Square
Databank ATL1 High Performance Computing Center @ Tech Square | Atlanta, Georgia
The four-story, ground-up Tier III data center is part of the Georgia Tech Expansion of Technology Square Office Tower project. The primary tenant of the data center is Georgia Tech. This project includes 100,000-gross-sq.-ft., including 45,000-sq.-ft. of Data Hall space.
Project Scope
This high-performance computing (HPC) data center engages new corporate partners, faculty with research interests in modeling and simulation, sensor network providers, students and entrepreneurs from young start-up companies, and network, computer and infrastructure providers. This eclectic group of hosted companies and programs constitutes a new social model of the “research-to-commercial” path. This center models the best practices of these concepts.
At full buildout, the data center will have service for over 9MW of critical load, including multiple levels of system redundancy and power densities. As the anchor tenant, Georgia Tech houses its Research and Enterprise computing, serviced by both high density, rack-mounted cooling and traditional air cooling. The upper floors are retail colocation space, taking advantage of the proximity to both Georgia Tech’s researchers and the adjacent Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) startup incubator.
