HCA West Houston Medical Center Patient Room Build-out and Hybrid Operating Room | Houston, Texas

The first phase of the project was a build out of 14 Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) rooms and 12 cardiovascular patient rooms. The second phase of the project included the build out of a hybrid cardiovascular operating room, a new physician lounge and post-operative beds. Both phases of the project were conducted while surrounded by active surgical and PACU suites.

Prefabrication

DPR worked closely with HCA to maximize efficiency strategies associated with both modular construction and prefabrication. The ultimate solution was to work with BLOX, a medical module prefabrication company, to provide modular patient bathrooms, prefabricated headwalls, footwalls and nurse charting stations. These initiatives resulted in a six week reduction in the overall project schedule.
