KPRC Next Generation Broadcast Facility
KPRC Next Generation Broadcast Facility | Houston, Texas
Construction of the Next Generation Broadcast Facility for KPRC, the flagship station for the Graham Media Group, accommodates the current and future requirements of the owner and growth of evolving digital media platforms. The interior of the facility is designed with the understanding that every space has the potential to be shot and broadcast for station news and digital media recordings. All mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and other infrastructure are within the primary building envelope to mitigate the impact from hurricanes and other severe weather events.
The two-story building includes core, shell and interior construction on an existing developed site adjacent to the fully operational critical broadcast facility. Interior space consists of two studios, a newsroom, production control rooms, digital storage, offices, open workstation areas, conference rooms, support rooms and other technical spaces. The project also included the demolition of the existing adjacent television station and construction of a new surface parking area with 165 secured staff parking spaces and 20 visitor spaces.
