Due to damage caused by Hurricane Harvey floodwaters, DPR Houston was elected to provide preconstruction and construction phase services for repair and renovation of the Omni Houston Hotel.
Details
The project scope included restoration and improvement of the lobby amenities including Birdies Café and Bar, La Reserve Whiskey Bar, Constellation Ballroom, Black Swan Restaurant & Night Club, Mokara Spa & Salon, Common Color retail area, board rooms, meeting rooms, lower level office and support areas, a commercial kitchen, and public area elevator cab interiors.
The result included 40,000 sq. ft. of newly renovated meeting spaces, including three ballrooms, two boardrooms, and 26 re-imagined reception and conference rooms. Included in the project scope were floodwater mitigation measures throughout the site, including civil engineering improvements and waterproofing.
Highlights
DPR also self-performed the following services: Demolition, Drywall, Concrete, Acoustical Ceilings, Level 5 Finishes, and Doors, Frame, & Hardware. Self-Perform highlights include:
- Placement of 15,000 sq. ft. of concrete to within one-sixteenth of an inch tolerance for Italian 4 feet by 4 feet tile
- Built 15,000 sq. ft. of drywall ceiling to within one-sixteenth of an inch tolerance for wood appliques
- Re-finished over 25,000 sq. ft. of existing drywall ceilings
- Built the La Reserve Whiskey Bar's beverage/serving station
