VIVEX Biologics
VIVEX Biologics | Opa-locka, FL
VIVEX Biologics, a global life sciences research and development company specializing in regenerative medicine, is continuing its manufacturing capacity in developing biomedical treatments in Opa-Locka, Florida. In 2019, VIVEX entrusted DPR Construction to increase its footprint in the clinical, surgical, and therapeutic patient innovation space through an interior expansion.
Project Scope
The newly expanded facility provides a best-in-class example of how precision planning and execution of solid technical building skills can convert a commercial space into a productive life sciences and pharmaceutical R&D environment. The buildout will expand on VIVEX's pursuit of becoming an industry leader in advanced solutions of treatment options for tissue damage resulting from a variety of diseases, direct injury, or trauma.
The project consists of 77,000-sq.-ft. of high-bay warehouse space, including a 40,200-sq.-ft. cold-formed system (CFS) overhead structure, 40,000-sq.-ft. of cleanroom space, research & development, freezer storage, and 30,000-sq.-ft. of miscellaneous office and administrative support spaces. Although the CFS covers more than 50 percent of the entire project, no changes were made to the original design by the engineer and architect.
Today, VIVEX focuses on core products and new technologies to meet the ever-growing biologic needs of surgeons and patients while continuing their 45-year history of serving and honoring both tissue donors and recipients. Since VIVEX acquired the University of Miami's Tissue Bank, they have distributed more than 2 million tissue allografts to 18 countries worldwide to better serve the needs of patients.
